Open Water Swim Calculator

Estimate your open-water time from your pool pace, adjusted for a wetsuit and real water conditions.

Why open water differs from pool pace

Pool pace assumes a straight line, a wall to push off every 25 or 50 meters, and dead-calm water, none of which apply in open water. A wetsuit typically speeds pace slightly through added buoyancy, while rougher conditions and imperfect sighting slow it down. This calculator applies a documented adjustment for each factor rather than assuming your pool pace transfers directly.
